September 04, 2005: Time to Start Watching What We Say
Veronika has long been successfully repeating what we say but now she's starting to demonstrate that she's picked up more than we know or have heard. Example: the other day I was driving with her and we were stopped at a stoplight with one car in front of us. The light turned green and the car in front of us didn't move for a few seconds. Even before I had a chance to get annoyed, I heard a yell from the backseat: "GOOOO!!!" Let's hope that's the only thing she's picked that she's heard me say to other drivers.
I also noticed that she has started trying to conjugate verbs on her own, in English at least. I was drawing a plane on our chalkboard at her request, and afterwards she said that I had "drawed" it. I fear that it won't be long before she's correcting our grammar.
UPDATE: In the hours since I posted this, I remembered a million other cool things that Veronika does that I forgot to add: like how she's getting really good at counting in English and German--not just sequentially but determining how many of something there are, and how she can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star almost perfectly, and how she's trying to learn how to jump, which looks something like a gallop as of now, mostly in the head and arms, and...
