August 17, 2004: Big Girl

Things are happening so fast, I can't even keep up with commenting on it. Veronika turned one and decided to attempt walking only a month after she figured out how to crawl. She does it only between really short distances, otherwise she plops herself on her butt and crawls. It's funny to see someone to opt for going on all fours instead of walking just because they think it's faster. We are so glad to have caught the first steps on video.

Being one also means leaving baby things behind... and so I decided to wean her and after slowing down from 4 feedings a day a month ago to 2 and then one, it's been a week that she hasn't nursed at all. To my own relief she doesn't seem to have noticed and the transition went more than smoothly. She has a bottle of milk at night before bed and when she wakes up in the morning and sometimes a little in her sippy cup during the day.

ALSO, Veronika is getting her first top tooth. There's a little white something poking through. So far she's handling it pretty good. Now and then she gets whiny but not much. I'm so excited. MORE TEETH.

I told you she's a big girl now.
