July 29, 2004: We have mobility
One day before the move, Veronika mastered pulling herself up into a standing position as well as crawling. At 11 1/2 months. One day before our move to a place with two staircases. Oh, but you wouldn't believe the cuteness, the self-confidence, the independence. Oh, no, the independence! It's funny because I don't know how to take a shower now anymore and I ask myself how I did it in Indiana and my brain gets stuff mixed up and I believe this shower problem to be related to the new place somehow.
Anyway, she is ALL OVER THE PLACE. When she crawls she is on one knee while the other leg is stretched out to the side and so she is half baby, half crab, racing on the floor like crazy. She will pull herself up on the table, in the crib, the pack-and-play, even the bare wall. Then, when she needs to get going again she holds on to something with one hand and with the other she tries to touch the floor and when she's really really close she just lets herself fall on her behind, safely padded with a huge diaper. She opens cabinets and pushes doors... life has turned into mayhem. We are SO not in Indiana anymore! This is the East Coast, things are different here. In New England you crawl, you know. Like a cute little chunky crab with a padded butt.
Congratulations kleine Schnecke!
P.s.: The baby gates are on the way.
